phase 13:
non-photorealistic rendering:
pen-and-ink illustrationoverview
This assignment was to explore and implement techniques for rendering images in non-photorealistic styles. One such technique which has received a good deal of attention in graphics literature is to render 2D images in a pen-and-ink style, which is what I have attempted to accomplish here.

some examples
the following images represent different stages in the creation of a pen-and-ink illustration of a torus and its shadow. the first image is the target tone image, the second is a rendering done with a constant direction field for the entire image, the third is a direction field image which captures perspective and curvature information about the scene, and the last represents the rendering when using the direction field image.
